Carrying Water

With the water containers full, they are hefted up and carried on top of the head. These two gals will chat going down the mountain and never spill a drop. However when the small children carry the 5-gallon buckets (that's 40# sloshing) they need a couple of other people to set it on their heads and when they get to the bottom of the hill, others will lift it off for them. Can you imagine the neck and shoulder muscles of these children? Carrying water is a way for a child to earn money for their family. The going rate right now is 5¢ for each 5-gallon container they carry -- and they do this all day long. By the time they make the trip and wait their turn in line each time, they can make 30 to 40¢ a day.
