Coup of 1986
There are some times that it gets more exciting than others. Like the time we had a full dental team in Terrier Rouge and the hotel sent a runner out to the village to tell us that we all had to go back to the hotel. We broke down the clinic, packed up the supplies and went back. This was during the coup of 1986. The airports were closed and no one was allowed to leave the hotel. The always remembered smell of gun powder wafting across your patio lunch table, guards outside while the team members enjoyed the pool, tested out their new camera equipment and generally had a great time. But back home the wives had panicked and as the unknown grew in the imaginations, the team was greeted at home like heroes and this was the Ft. Wayne headlines. Someone else had a team member who was totally out of control so Don gave up his seat, on his birthday, and stayed behind as the last plane flew out with the team.
