February 1986
No one knew exactly what would happen. Don told of fliers dropped to the population instructing everyone to take a unified stand. At midnight they were to beat on drums or pans or anything to make noise in their homes. The military hearing the number who were unified hit the road for Port au Prince telling President Duvalier they didn't have enough bullets to shoot them all. Air Force One flew in and took the Duvalier family out and this was what the streets of Cap Haitien and the main gate to the city looked like when the news arrived that Haiti no longer had a dictator. Unfortunately this joy couldn't last. Don shared this joy as the only white man in Cap Haitien that day.
